Scott had just completed his first year of college seminary when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Due to the high-risk nature of his diagnosis, and the unlikelihood of receiving even a partial bone marrow transplant, Scott will remain on chemotherapy drugs for the rest of his life. Through his journey, Scott has remained upbeat writing “I declared myself a cancer survivor, embraced all of the work I would have to do, and continued to live. I am as happy today as a cancer survivor as I was before I was diagnosed… I am living life to the fullest.” Scott will be the first in his immediate family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. He is currently a seminarian for the Diocese of Phoenix and is studying to be a Catholic priest.
