Six weeks into his freshman year at MorehouseCollege, Andre was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin Lymphoma. He spent the next eight months battling cancer- “mind, body & soul”- until he reached remission. Andre writes “Cancer showed me that if I can take on my mortality then I can do anything. I just have to be as passionate about whatever it is, as I was when I was passionately fighting to stay alive.” Since his diagnosis, Andre has been fighting to raise the awareness that he feels is sorely lacking for both the young adult and black cancer communities. He has been featured in New York magazine, the New York Post, The Kansas City Star newspaper and numerous other publications. He even kept a public, online journal to share his emotional journey through cancer and educate others. Andre returned to school at the EugeneLangCollege in New York City and recently completed a Semester at Sea program.
