Richard was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma bone cancer of the sight his senior year of high school.  He is now in his sophomore year of college at Northern Kentucky University while continuing treatments for his cancer which spread to his leg and lungs.  Richard is studying to be a nurse anesthetist so that he can help others manage their pain.  His positive attitude helped him walk again after doctors told him he wouldn't be able to.
