Carlos - Testicular Cancer Survivor Print E-mail

Carlos grew up as a ward of the State of Texas and has been completely self-supporting since age 19.  Carlos was working at Goodwill Industries and studying welding at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 2006.  Because the cancer has spread to his lungs and chest, Carlos underwent surgery and chemotherapy.  Although his doctor would not allow him to continue working, Carlos did continue to attend class during treatment.  In July 2006, Carlos was pronounced cured and he continues with his job as a janitor at the Goodwill and works towards the completion of his welding certificate.
